Ryan Church

While looking through his work I got to thinking that fantasy games absolutely must possess that extra step of detail to not only entice the gamer to play but also to make it seem real. Reality is a tool used by games and artists like Church to manipulate people into buying these products, but why are people looking for fantasy?

That's a great question- I think we should discuss this in class- Why are people looking for fantasy? What is the motivation and expectation driving this?
We should talk about escaping the everyday- challenging the imagination- Identity - and the "pulling power" of original experiences?

I think that's half the point of anything that's outside of reality for everyone whether it be books, tv, video games, etc. It's the doorway to allow people to escape from the reality of their own life to seek a fantasy. It's not that life is bad, though it is for some, but a fantasy is so much more. It's everything our lives isn't and that can range from anything like a simple thing of being amazingly rich in a virtual world to be a god in a video game.
