TV and into the virtual world
CSI: NY OCT24: catching the avatar in second life = catching the killer they have to find. It's pretty interesting how they made the episode though second life.

Interactive Cube
Interactive Cube
I find this really cool interactive game. It's interesting that it responds directly how the user moves the cube in such that the "player" moves accordingly to that. Watch the video and see!

Brain Computer Interface (cont.)
Brain Control in Second Life
I find this interesting article about applying the Brain Computer Interface (BCI) to second life. It's pretty amazing that the technology is being applied to a real program that everyone can use instead of something specific in a lab only.

Universal Avatars
"A virtual character, or avatar, for all the virtual worlds in which people play is the goal of a joint project between IBM and Linden Lab."
Hi All- A collaboration between IBM and Linden Labs, the makers of Second Life, is aiming to create universal avatars that can travel between virtual worlds- possibly game environments etc. Is this a big step towards seamless- translated gaming experience? What would the benefits be? How would an avatars "skills" or a persons familiarity with the avatar affect their experience-emotional attachment etc? Is this the beginning of your eternity- as in when you die and your avatar lives on?

Newmindspace
This is an excellent site for those of you who are interested in creating games outside of the box (console) or who simply enjoy participating in mass communal interactive experiences. Lori and Kevin intermittently coordinate a series of activities which they conduct between Toronto and New York, using the urban landscape as their virtual board game. These include subway parties, treasure hunts and a capture the flag game that is scheduled for this month, October 12!
